Working Party Saturday 26th August - this time on President ! - by Dave Stott

The following attended the work party on Saturday 26th: Neil Ratcliffe, Tony Tibbins, Dave Speer, Babs Parkin and Dave Stott.

We removed all the coal, some 5 tons from the hold which was loaded onto pallets, ready to be moved by museum staff. All the firewood and range coal was put into the boat loo at the side of the bollinder shed, and all ropes etc were put into the bollinder shed The hold was swept out and is now ready for the removal of all the ballast.

As suspected there was a lot of water in the hold, above the shutts, this steadily drained to the stern where the pump kicked in and discharged it overboard. We managed to do the unload without any serious rain, but as we started to get the side cloths in position it threw it down, so we spent an interesting 15 mins huddled under the cratch!!!! President was then moved over to join Kildare and the power supply connected. My sincere thanks to the team who worked so well and a special thanks to Dave Speer for the sudden arrival of some brown looking water in a glass!!!

Report from Nick Haynes - Tuesday 29th

Sales staff are also back from the National now, thanks to support from Sue Haynes, John Byham, Dave Henighan, Sue & Gert Van Kerkoerle, Neil Ratcliffe, Bob Crompton and Nick Haynes. Although sales where lower than hoped we have continued to spread the President history and started the 'Sponsor a Tube' campaign.

We have now confirmed Kildare will be taken to Parkhead at the end of September by Stour.
